Allow me to establish the truth… domestic violence or domestic abuse is a “CRIME” and a silent epidemic.
Domestic Violence or Crime is an epidemic because…..
1. With each generation, both young boys and girls are taught “by example” to be either a victim or a practitioner by witnessing the violence in their home they are most likely to mimic as adults. If each family infected with this scourge of domestic criminal behavior, had an average of 2 children, then it may conceivably result in a 200% increase as those two children constitute another generation.
2. Because of the secretive nature and being ignored by society the violent and criminal behavior is allowed to continue unchecked.
3. Further, in my opinion, the solutions that are being considered as the remedy of domestic violence are not principled solutions for eradication.
The Stealthy Violence and Crimes are Silent because…
1. The victim believes “from training” that their best chance of survival lies in not allowing anyone to be aware of the abuse.
2. Even if family becomes aware of the violence, the victim is isolated from the family and friends by the criminal so that the problem and its level of severity are unknown.
3. Members of the public are uncomfortable with interfering. So this violence again continues unchecked. Remember “bad things happen when good people do nothing”.
4. Law enforcement remains uneducated and not trained to understand the quirky-illogical behavior of the victim, which does not match the behavior of a victim needing, help.
So let’s move forward with addressing
& eradicating the epidemic effects
of this crime.
Separation & Isolation
- Separate and constrain those that have the criminal behavior.
- Separate and support the victims of the crime.
Identify
- We identify the at-risk groups for becoming these criminals or victims.
Alternatives
- Determine measures to prevent these groups from falling prey to these crimes or becoming the domestic criminals.
Education
- Education will be needed for these at-risk groups to help prevent them
from becoming victims and criminally violent perpetrators of tomorrow.
Rebuild Lives
- The rebuilding of lives can start now with controls in place to prevent new criminal acts from occurring in families, we then can address those that are victims of these domestic violence crimes.
Vigilance
- We will have to be vigilant in identifying and monitoring to stop any symptoms from developing into the full blown criminal behavior resulting in new victims of this crime.
Independence
- We equip the victims with the skills for them to lead lives of independence and pride.
- Finally we will have stopped both the “Cheerleader Syndrome” and the “Macho Master Syndrome” leading to the desired eradication of the Criminal activity and the resulting harm done to its victims.
