The laws are already in existence to give protection to the victims of domestic violence or "Family Terror", an even more appropriate name. What is needed is an awakening of the legal system to enforce these laws to protect vicitms and their children. There is a bandage being applied to this silent epidemic that is damaging families for many generations as it multiplies.

The solution attempts that are being used are absolutely contrary to the things that need to be done to finally get us on the path to ending domestic violence. As long as we continue to do what we are doing this epidemic will continue to grow.

Domestic violence needs to have the same approach that Martin Luther King applied to addressing racial predjudices. The existence of domestic violence must be brought to the full attention of all. It needs to no longer be something that is looked upon as a shame the vicitm has to bear. It is the abuser that must finally take the shame on his/her shoulders.

The victims trust issues with law enforcement need to be addressed. The dangers are underestimated by all. At this time the victim really has very few options out there that make them feel as though taking action will be a safe thing for them to do. You see an unsuccessful attempt at getting help will only result in another more serious beating and treatment of the victim.
