What
Is The Truth About Orders For
Protection
or Restraining Orders?
The
abuser knows about the ins and the outs of the protective orders and
uses that information to his advantage. He knows that the
police
will take a little while to arrive after the call from the victim.
He also knows that if they cannot find him when they come,
that he
is probably home free.
In my case, Bud
the Bruiser knew
just how far to push his violations of the restraining order.
There was constant torment and continuous threats as he would
show up, I would call law enforcement, Bud the Bruiser would leave
prior to the cops ever showing up and that is all that ever happened.
Of course, always as the abuser would leave before he was
caught;
I would feel him say as he looked at me "I am laughing at your attempts
to stop me from doing whatever I want to do".
The entire use
and enforcement of
protection orders needs to be scrapped and revised. The
victim,
after her first use of the order for her protection is sent into a
tailspin of realization. The victim knows from the first time
she
calls to no avail that this protection is nothing for her to depend
upon. The law enforcement really does not see the severe and
dangerous level of threat that the abuser is to the victim and the
response by them illustrates this lack of knowledge.
There is a
sure-fire way to make
these protective orders the deterrent to the abuser that is intended.
This change will also relax the fears of the victim so her
building of her independence is not continually derailed by the abuser,
even though she has already made her brave escape.
