   Intentional Tort Statutes ----
                                              Watch Out!

When a victim escapes domestic violence, she has a big battle ahead of her.  This victim must provide income for survival for herself and any children.  Also, consoling and comforting the children will be necessary for many months after the escape and will need to be a priority.  The victim will be dealing most likely with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and have severe fears of the abuser coming to retaliate for her escape.

And guess what!  Kansas and many other states have a limit of time of only one year for the victim to file an intentional tort civil case for damages for the abuse against the abuser.  This is not realistic for the victim to be ready to file a civil case in that short period of time.  These statutes need to be changed for victims of domestic violence, abuse or family terror against women.

We can not let these laws bar us from making our claim asking for justice against our abusers.

This topic is addressed as well as many more in the book Family Terror.  As a victim of domestic violence it is my opinion that no book has ever addressed domestic violence in as much detail.  If you or someone you know is trapped in domestic violence, click here to order the book for information about avenues of solutions.
